The 23-year-old Manchester, New Hampshire native, who lost a leg in a horrific accident a few years ago, beat out nine other women for the big honor.

But winning was only part of the surprise.

“I was shocked. I don’t know if you saw the video, but my instant reaction was to scream up to my mother,” Lambert said. That’s because she was stunned as Academy Award-winning actress, Helen Mirren, surprised her with the announcement. “I want to be the first to officially congratulate you on being named the 2020 L’oreal Paris Women of Worth National Honoree,” Mirren said.

Actress Helen Mirren surprised her with the good news on the national television show Extra! tonight. As the national honoree, Noelle will receive $25,000 from L’Oreal Paris for The Born to Run Foundation, which Noelle started after recovering from an accident that resulted in her losing her leg, on top of the $10,000 donation that came with being selected as one of ten Women of Worth. The funding will provide young amputees with specialized athletic prostheses to help them lead active lives.

Josh Beecher of Bedford, NH, was born with a club foot. Because of the immense pain it caused him, he made the difficult to decision to have his leg amputated below the knee. He applied to the Foundation for a running blade so he could become more active.

Josh’s story was very compelling, and in July 2019, I had the opportunity to present him with a running blade at West High School in Manchester, NH. Josh said that becoming an amputee was the hardest decision he has ever had to make. Before he became an amputee, it was difficult for Josh to do everyday activities and participate in sports. Since receiving his running blade, Josh has been able to live an active life. At the donation event, we tested out his new blade with special guest Henry Tripp, who was the Foundation’s third donor recipient, by taking a couple laps around the track. Josh already looked like a natural running on his new blade.

Josh’s running blade was made by Next Step Bionics & Prosthetics. This was the Foundation’s fourth donation.

Since receiving the running blade, Henry has been able to get back into running and continue to be the active kid he was before his accident. Being able to provide young people, like Henry, with athletic prostheses has meant the world to me.

A month after receiving his running blade, Henry joined me at the West High School track in Manchester, NH to run a few laps for the Foundation’s fourth donation to Josh Beecher.

While at the University of New Hampshire, Emma Graham, 25 of Manchester, NH, suffered a stroke which led to her right leg being amputated above the knee. While I was recovering at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Catholic Medical Center? from losing my leg, I had the opportunity to meet Emma. We helped each other stay motivated through a lot of the ups and downs that are inevitable when recovering.

When we started The Born to Run Foundation, I knew I wanted to help young people like Emma receive prosthetics that will enable them to continue to be active. In March 2019, I had the opportunity to present Emma with a waterproof prosthesis at Spaulding Rehabilitation Center, where she now pays it forward by volunteering her time in the pediatric unit. With the waterproof prosthetic, Emma has been able to go to the beach and walk into the water with ease. During the event Emma said, “All I wanted when I was recovering was to be on the beach and go in the water.”

Dr. David Crandell, Medical Director of the Amputee Program at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, attended the event and talked about how special the relationship was between Emma and I as it showed the importance of peer visitation and support among young amputees.

Emma’s waterproof prosthesis was made by Next Step Bionics & Prosthetics. This was the second donation the Foundation made.

When I first met Isaak at the prosthetic company Next Step Bionics & Prosthetics, I didn’t realize that he had just had his new running blade fitted to him. He was running around and looked like he was a natural on his new leg. Isaak was so full of energy and excitement which was contagious to everyone who saw him. Isaak was the first donation we made from The Born to Run Foundation on December 9, 2018, and to see the little 3-year old charging around the room like his favorite comic character, Batman, whose insignia is on his running blade, brought me so much joy. It is why I chose to dedicate myself to helping other young amputees by raising funds through The Born to Run Foundation to provide them with artificial limbs that they can use to be active in their lives from participating in organized sports, activities with families and friends and swimming at a beach or a pool. Isaak’s enthusiasm was evident that day when we officially presented him with his running blade in front of the media. The Born to Run Foundation was thrilled to be part of his recovery and rehabilitation as he will know no bounds. Isaak was the first of many amazing amputees whom we have helped and every one of them have come to be amputees through different ways. Isaak was diagnosed neurofibromatosis which led to the amputation of his lower left leg, a difficult decision that his parents made to ensure that Isaak would have an active future. I look forward to the day when Isaak can outrun me and show me that with the right support, anything is possible.

Hi guys, just wanted to give you the head’s up that I was recently named one of ten 2020 Women of Worth honorees by the world’s No. 1 beauty brand, L’Oréal Paris. That means The Born to Run Foundation, which I established after losing my left leg in a moped accident in 2016, will receive $10,000 from L’Oréal Paris. But I need your help to receive another $25,000 through an online voting program, which ends on November 27th.

You can visit www.WomenofWorth.com to read my story and vote for The Born to Run Foundation. All it takes is registering with an email address to vote once a day, now through November 27, 2020.

The Born to Run Foundation donates specialized athletic prostheses to amputees so that they can lead active lives. The prostheses donations include running blades, water legs and arms for yoga and weight training. By voting, you’ll be helping ensure that more young people have access to these often-expensive specialty prosthetics.

Thank you all for your support!

About The Born to Run Foundation

The Born to Run Foundation was established to help young amputees obtain specialized prosthetic devices so that they can live fulfilling lives. Founder Noelle Lambert of Manchester, New Hampshire, created the foundation after she lost a leg in a moped accident in 2016. As an athlete herself and former Division 1 college lacrosse player at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Noelle wanted to ensure that young amputees who cannot afford costly athletic prosthetics have the opportunity to have an active lifestyle.
